Letter from the Co Headteachers

Heber is a happy and creative family at the heart of the community. All are welcome. All achieve.

If you come to visit we hope you are struck by the calm, purposeful atmosphere. You will see children who are eager to learn and whose behaviour and attitude to learning reflect our three key values of thoughtfulness, resilience and responsibility. This was appreciated by Ofsted in our most recent inspection who reported that the school’s work in promoting pupil’s personal development and welfare was outstanding. Sitting alongside our commitment to pupil welfare is a constant and relentless focus on the progress of each and every child in the school.

Our highly experienced stable staff includes three teachers in receipt of ‘Excellent Teacher awards’ from the Local Authority. We employ specialist Art, Music and PE teachers and have dedicated Art and Music rooms. Concerts and exhibitions are regular features of school life.

80+% of our children consistently leave our Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) with a ‘Good Level of Development’. This is well above the National average of 69%. We still have vacancies in the Nursery for 2017 / 2018. Please contact the school if you are interested in a place. Please note that from September 2017 the Government will be funding full time places at Nursery for working parents. Parents should be working for 16+ hours per week at or above the minimum wage. Neither parent’s income should exceed £100,000. Please contact the school if you are interested in a full time place

The percentage of children achieving ‘at greater depth’ at the end of Year 6 is and has for some time consistently above the National average. Last year for instance 13% of Heber pupils achieved a greater depth of understanding across Reading, Writing and Maths. The national figure was 5%. We have a few places in KS2. Please contact the school if you are interested in a place.

If you would like to visit the school, please contact the school office and arrange an appointment to be shown around the school by one of the Co Headteachers.
