Gardening Newsletter

As you may have seen on the school newsletter, we are delighted to announce that the P&F has recently been awarded a £2,300 grant from the Cleaner, Greener, Safer Fund by Southwark Council for the upcycled garden project. Our fabulous school gardener, Maria, has already been hard at work ‘greening Heber’, but this money (along with that raised by the School Council last year)

Gardening @ Heber

Ms. Bassett and School Council last year raised money for new gardening equipment and plants. Every week, our school gardener, Maria, comes into school to work with 10 KS1 children. Learning in the Foundation Stage…

This week we have introduced our new topic on ‘Growing’ and the children have been writing about what they know about animals, plants and humans.  We have been learning about the life cycle of plants and we labelled different parts of the flower.  The baby caterpillars arrived yesterday and the children spent today making observational drawings of these tiny creatures. Year 3 – The Curse of Mother Nature

The children in Year 3 had a brilliant time taking part in their topic themed day on Friday. Their costumes were fantastic and they thoroughly enjoyed learning about natural disasters. The children made their own volcanoes and took part in a live eruption using bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and food colouring. They observed the reaction as part of their science investigation and made notes
