Year 1 News

1S have been busy in maths solving addition word problems. We were able to choose which resources we wanted to use to help us. Times Tables Rock Stars

We are now using Times Tables Rock Stars at Heber Primary School. Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practiced every third week or so. Maths Week Raps

Last week, several children from across the school wrote a number of different maths raps as part of the selection of activities that took place to celebrate maths. The best raps from each class then performed these in the assembly on Friday. Well done to all of the children who took part.

Maths Week – Quantum Theatre

On Tuesday, the Quantum Theatre Company visited school to perform a maths play for the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children. The children really enjoyed finding out about maths and learned about number lines, number squares, simple multiplication tables and a variety of mental methods of calculation, including estimating, counting on, rounding and partitioning throughout the performance. Heber Primary School Maths week officially started yesterday and the children have been taking part in a variety of activities focusing on maths and learning.
